Democratic Transition
Based on well-known democracy data, TJET records two democratic transitions starting in 1994 and 2014.

Violent Conflict
Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records one violent intrastate conflict episode between 1998 and 1999, involving one armed opposition group fighting against the government. One conflict episode was internationalized by involvement of external state actors.

Amnesties
Guinea-Bissau had eight amnesties between 1976 and 2004. One occurred in the context of democratic transition. One was passed after internal armed conflict. Four amnesties released political prisoners. Three amnesties forgave human rights violations.

Domestic Trials
TJET has compiled data on ten domestic prosecutions between 1992 and 2017. These include one transitional human rights prosecution of state agents, in which no one was convicted; nine regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which two persons were convicted; and two opposition prosecutions of state agents or opposition members, in which no one was convicted. In one trial that involved high-ranking state agents, no one was convicted.
