Democratic Transition

TJET records no democratic transitions in Tanzania between 1970 and 2020.

Violent Conflict

Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records one violent intrastate conflict episode in 2020, involving one armed opposition group fighting against the government.

Amnesties

Tanzania had two amnesties between 1974 and 1978. Two amnesties released political prisoners.

Domestic Trials

TJET has compiled data on 20 domestic prosecutions between 1993 and 2016. These include 20 regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which eight persons were convicted.
