Democratic Transition
TJET records no democratic transitions in Togo between 1970 and 2020.
Violent Conflict
Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records one violent intrastate conflict episode in 1986, involving one armed opposition group fighting against the government.

Amnesties
Togo had six amnesties between 1980 and 2005. Three were passed after internal armed conflict. Four amnesties released political prisoners. One amnesty forgave human rights violations.

Domestic Trials
TJET has compiled data on four domestic prosecutions between 1986 and 2013. These include two regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which two persons were convicted; one intrastate conflict prosecution of opposition members, in which one person was convicted; and one opposition prosecution of state agents or opposition members, in which four persons were convicted.

Truth Commissions
Togo mandated one truth commission in 2009. The commission completed its operations in 2012. The commission issued a final report, which is publicly available. The report included recommendations for reparations and institutional reforms.

UN Investigations
Togo was subject to two UN investigations between 2000 and 2005. One investigation aimed to encourage domestic prosecutions.
