Democratic Transition

Based on well-known democracy data, TJET records two democratic transitions starting in 1971 and 1980.

Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records no episodes of violent intrastate conflict in Honduras between 1970 and 2020.

Amnesties

Honduras had nine amnesties between 1977 and 2010. One occurred in the context of democratic transition. Seven amnesties released political prisoners. Two amnesties forgave human rights violations.

Domestic Trials

TJET has compiled data on 77 domestic prosecutions between 1982 and 2018. These include 77 regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which 36 persons were convicted.

Truth Commissions

Honduras mandated two truth commissions in 1992 and 2010. The commissions completed their operations in 1993 and 2011. The commissions issued final reports, which are publicly available. The reports included recommendations for prosecutions, reparations, and institutional reforms.
