Democratic Transition

TJET records no democratic transitions in United States of America between 1970 and 2020.

Violent Conflict

Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records two violent intrastate conflict episodes between 2001 and 2019 (during 18 calendar years), involving one armed opposition group fighting against the government. Two conflict episodes were internationalized by involvement of external state actors.

Transitional Justice Data

United States of America had two amnesties between 1974 and 1977.

Domestic Trials

TJET has compiled data on one domestic prosecution in 2000. These include one intrastate conflict prosecution of state agents, in which one person was convicted.

Nationals of United States of America were defendants in four foreign prosecutions in France, Italy, Serbia, and Spain beginning between 2002 and 2008.

Reparations Policies

United States of America implemented two reparations policies, starting in 2013. TJET found no information on the total number of beneficiaries.

Truth Commissions

United States of America mandated two truth commissions in 1980 and 2004. The commissions completed their operations in 1983 and 2006. The commissions issued final reports, which are publicly available. The reports included recommendations for reparations and institutional reforms.
