Democratic Transition
Based on well-known democracy data, TJET records two democratic transitions starting in 1990 and 1997.

Violent Conflict
Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records no episodes of violent intrastate conflict in Albania between 1970 and 2020.
Transitional Justice Data

Amnesties
Albania had five amnesties between 1989 and 1997. Four occurred in the context of democratic transition. Five amnesties released political prisoners.

Domestic Trials
TJET has compiled data on nine domestic prosecutions between 1991 and 2020. These include three transitional human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which eleven persons were convicted; and six regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which four persons were convicted. In three trials that involved high-ranking state agents, nine persons were convicted.

Reparations Policies
Albania implemented one reparations policy, starting in 2004. According to available information, there was a total of 56000 individual beneficiaries.

Vetting Policies
Albania had three vetting policies between 1995 and 2020. One policy provided sanctions based on past individual conduct. Two policies prescribed both dismissals from current employment and bans from holding future office. One policy aimed to declassify the records of former state security agents.
