Democratic Transition

TJET records no democratic transitions in Djibouti between 1970 and 2020.

Violent Conflict

Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records two violent intrastate conflict episodes between 1991 and 1999 (during five calendar years), involving two distinct armed opposition groups fighting against the government.

Transitional Justice Data

Amnesties

Djibouti had four amnesties between 1992 and 2000. One was passed during ongoing internal armed conflict. Three were passed after internal armed conflict. Three were part of a peace agreement. One amnesty forgave human rights violations.

Domestic Trials

TJET has compiled data on twelve domestic prosecutions between 1990 and 2018. These include eight regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which two persons were convicted; and one opposition prosecution of state agents or opposition members, in which two persons were convicted.
