Democratic Transition
TJET records no democratic transitions in Morocco between 1970 and 2020.
Violent Conflict
Based on the Uppsala Conflict Data Program, TJET records two violent intrastate conflict episodes between 1971 and 1989 (during 16 calendar years), involving two distinct armed opposition groups fighting against the government. One conflict episode was internationalized by involvement of external state actors.

Transitional Justice Data

Amnesties
Morocco had eight amnesties between 1975 and 2011. One was passed during ongoing internal armed conflict. Two were passed after internal armed conflict. Six amnesties released political prisoners.

Domestic Trials
TJET has compiled data on 13 domestic prosecutions between 1971 and 2017. These include ten regular human rights prosecutions of state agents, in which five persons were convicted; one intrastate conflict prosecution of state agents, in which one person was convicted; and two intrastate conflict prosecutions of opposition members, in which two persons were convicted.

Foreign Trials
Nationals of Morocco were defendants in two foreign prosecutions in France and Spain beginning between 2006 and 2013.

Reparations Policies
Morocco implemented two reparations policies between 1999 and 2003. According to available information, there was a total of 21988 individual beneficiaries. One reparations policy provided collective benefits.

Truth Commissions
Morocco mandated one truth commission in 2004. The commission completed its operations in 2005. The commission issued a final report, which is publicly available. The report included recommendations for reparations and institutional reforms.
